Tutorials

A cornerstone of the AVID program is the student-led tutorial. Twice weekly student study groups form around students’ points of confusion in their learning in various academic subjects. The tutorial process begins with the AVID Tutorial Request Form, which asks students to identify their understanding and misunderstandings through a series of reflective questions. Students gather resources to bring to their tutorial groups and work through their identified problem in a process of shared inquiry.

AVID tutors facilitate the discussion and serve the students throughout the inquiry process.
